Introduction to Alaska Airlines’ Expansion
Alaska Airlines is gearing up for a massive expansion, introducing 18 new nonstop routes to popular destinations just in time for winter. This strategic move includes the airline’s first-ever flights to Vail, alongside other warm-weather and snowy destinations.
New Routes to Warm-Weather Destinations
Among the exciting additions are routes to Costa Rica and Los Cabos. Starting December 3, a new flight from Fresno to Guadalajara will kick off the expansion. Additionally, Alaska Airlines will launch new services from Sacramento and Boise to Orlando, starting January 6 and January 7, respectively, and a year-round service between Boise and Santa Ana beginning December 19.
Expanding Access to Popular Ski Destinations
Winter sports enthusiasts will appreciate the new routes to sought-after ski destinations. On December 20, flights from San Diego and Seattle to Vail will commence, operating three times a week through March 16, 2025. This is complemented by new routes such as Los Angeles to Kelowna, British Columbia, and San Diego to Reno, starting December 19, providing easier access to Lake Tahoe ski resorts.
Enhanced International Offerings
Alaska Airlines is also broadening its international reach. New nonstop services to Liberia, Costa Rica, will be available from both San Francisco and Seattle beginning December 21. The airline is also introducing the only direct flight between New York City and Puerto Vallarta, starting January 8, and increasing flights to Los Cabos from Sacramento.
Additional Customer Benefits
In addition to expanding its route network, Alaska Airlines recently introduced a paid subscription service offering discounts on Wi-Fi and early access to sales. This summer, the airline is rewarding one lucky main cabin passenger daily with a complimentary upgrade to premium class, available through September 2.
