Alaska Airlines Sets New Standards for Loyalty
Alaska Airlines has recently announced significant enhancements to its loyalty program, aiming to make it one of the most generous in the industry. Starting in 2025, the Mileage Plan will introduce new ways for members to earn elite status and enjoy a variety of perks. According to Brett Catlin, Alaska’s Vice President of Loyalty, the company is committed to rewarding its loyal customers with even more benefits.
New Opportunities for Earning Elite Status
One of the standout features of these changes is the expanded opportunities for earning elite-qualifying miles (EQMs). Members will be able to accumulate EQMs not only from paid flights but also on award tickets based on the distance flown. For instance, a trip from Seattle to Tokyo will earn nearly 9,538 EQMs, getting you closer to achieving MVP status faster.
Milestone Choices and Improved Upgrades
In addition to earning EQMs, those who achieve certain mileage milestones will have access to a variety of rewards. Starting at just 10,000 EQMs, members can select benefits like bonus miles, lounge access, or flight discounts. Moreover, complimentary upgrades for a companion traveling with MVP members will now be available, reflecting Alaska’s commitment to enhancing the travel experience for its loyal customers.
With these developments, Alaska Airlines is positioning itself as a leader in the loyalty program landscape, promising more updates and features in collaboration with Hawaiian Airlines in the coming years.
