In the latest J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Credit Card Satisfaction Study, several travel credit cards have emerged as top performers. This article delves into the highest-ranking cards, providing insights into their benefits and customer satisfaction ratings.

Top Co-Branded Travel Credit Cards

The Southwest Rapid Rewards Premier Card and the Southwest Rapid Rewards Priority Card by Chase have secured the first and second spots, respectively, in the co-branded travel credit card category. These cards offer numerous benefits, including the coveted Companion Pass, which can be earned through card spending. The Premier Card, with an annual fee of $99, and the Priority Card, with an annual fee of $149, particularly stand out for frequent Southwest Airlines travelers.

Coming in third is the Delta SkyMiles Platinum American Express Card. This card is popular due to its benefits such as priority boarding, an annual domestic companion certificate, and a free first checked bag on Delta flights. However, it carries a higher annual fee of $350.

Top No Annual Fee Travel Credit Cards

In the category of travel credit cards without an annual fee, the Hilton Honors American Express Card ranks highly. Cardholders can earn significant points on various purchases while enjoying Hilton Silver Elite status. This card offers 7x points at Hilton properties, 5x points at U.S. restaurants, supermarkets, and gas stations, and 3x points on other purchases. Additional benefits include purchase and travel insurance.

Other notable mentions in the no annual fee category include the Apple Card and the Costco Anywhere Visa by Citi, which round out the top three in customer satisfaction.

Survey and Methodology

The J.D. Power study surveyed 38,852 credit card customers between June 2023 and June 2024. The survey assessed satisfaction based on multiple factors, including account management, benefits, customer service, new account experience, rewards earning, rewards redeeming, and card terms.

Additionally, Travel & Leisure recently released a separate list highlighting credit cards favored by frequent fliers, reinforcing the value of these top-ranked travel cards.
