Introduction of Tap-to-Pay Feature

United Airlines has made significant strides in improving the travel experience for its customers by introducing a new tap-to-pay feature for purchasing snacks and drinks on board its flights. This innovative payment solution, launched on November 18, allows travelers to conveniently use their mobile phones for transactions, enhancing the efficiency of in-flight purchases.

Payment Options Available

With the tap-to-pay feature, passengers can utilize various forms of contactless payment, including iPhones, Apple Watches, and tap-enabled credit or debit cards. Flight attendants are equipped with airline-issued iPhones to accept these payments swiftly. Additionally, United Airlines has integrated a wallet feature within its mobile app, enabling customers to save payment methods directly to their MileagePlus accounts for future ease.

Understanding In-Flight Offerings

On domestic flights, United provides a range of free snacks, such as cookies and snack mixes, as well as complimentary non-alcoholic beverages like juices and sodas. However, travelers wanting additional items like Pringles, snack boxes, or alcoholic beverages will find these for sale. Longer flights also feature hot meals available for purchase, while international fare generally includes meals and select alcohol at no extra cost. This comprehensive approach to in-flight dining and the newly introduced payment method underscore United’s commitment to enhancing the passenger experience.
