Changes to Joshua Tree National Park Fees
Starting December 1, 2023, visitors to Joshua Tree National Park will experience notable fee increases. The popular California destination will raise reservation fees for campgrounds and tours booked through recreation.gov. The National Park Service (NPS) announced that these changes were initiated after extensive public engagement and review.
New Fee Structure Announced
According to the NPS, the general admission amenity fee will increase from $10 to $20, although entry will remain free for children aged 11 and younger. Campground fees will see significant adjustments as well: the Cottonwood Group Campground will rise to $55 from its earlier range of $35 to $45, while the Indian Cove Group Campground will cost $55 instead of $35 to $55.
Impact on Campground Reservations
Additionally, the Black Rock Campground fee will increase from $25 to $35, and the White Tank Campground will rise from $15 to $25. For those hoping to utilize first-come, first-serve campgrounds, the fee will also jump from $15 to $25 per night. Tour prices, such as the Keys Ranch tour, will now cost between $10 and $20. While these fee changes may impact budget planning for visitors, it’s worth noting that Joshua Tree National Park has several fee-free days throughout the year for those seeking to explore its stunning landscapes without the added cost.
