New Budget Airline Route

Houston-based travelers now have an exciting new option for flying to Tokyo, as budget airline Zipair has announced the launch of its direct route. Starting March 4, 2025, customers can book one-way tickets for as low as $333. This announcement from the airline, a subsidiary of Japan Airlines, marks a significant addition to Houston’s travel options.

Flight Schedule and Aircraft

Zipair will operate flights from Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport to Tokyo’s Narita Airport four times a week, specifically on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. The flights will be serviced by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners, providing passengers with 18 lie-flat business class seats and 272 economy seats for a comfortable journey that lasts nearly 14 hours.

Affordability and Future Travel Plans

The introductory fare of under $350 provides a budget-friendly alternative compared to other airlines, such as All Nippon Airways (ANA) and United Airlines, which charge upwards of $595 for one-way basic tickets. Zipair’s promotional rate is available for purchase on their website until November 30, enhancing the prospects of travel to Tokyo, especially for those looking to witness the cherry blossoms next spring. Mayor John Whitmire has remarked that this flight will bolster business ties between Houston and Japan while inviting more visitors to experience what Houston has to offer.
