Next year marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of Gleneagles, one of Scotland’s most beloved hotels, in the bucolic county of Perthshire, some 40 miles north of Edinburgh. But 2022 brought another reason to celebrate: the launch of Gleneagles Townhouse, the brand’s first offshoot, in the heart of the Scottish capital. The new property, which encompasses both a 33-room hotel and a members’ club, shares many of the same traditional design touchpoints as its older sibling — spacious corner room had a canopy bed and hunter-green tile in the bath.
And yet, a youthful spirit presides, with a warm and friendly staff, contemporary art in the public spaces, and a bright color palette at the Spence, the hotel’s all-day restaurant.
