Introduction to the 2025 Flight Schedule
Southwest Airlines has recently announced its 2025 flight schedule, unveiling new cross-country routes and reintroducing several domestic flights. Passengers can now book flights through October 1, 2025, marking an exciting expansion for the airline.
New and Returning Routes
Starting August 5, 2025, Southwest will launch various new domestic routes, primarily focusing on its Orlando base. Notable new connections include flights from Nashville (BNA) to Louisville (SDF), with six flights a week, as well as daily service from Orlando (MCO) to Los Angeles (LAX) and Miami (MIA). Additionally, the airline will offer twice-daily flights from Orlando to Sarasota (SRQ).
Seasonal Services and Operational Updates
As part of this update, several domestic routes will resume operations, including once-daily flights between Austin (AUS) and San Francisco (SFO), along with key connections from Indianapolis (IND) to Chicago (MDW) and Orlando (MCO) to West Palm Beach (PBI). Furthermore, on August 10, Southwest will introduce a new seasonal route connecting Phoenix (PHX) and Santa Barbara (SBA), which will operate weekly on Sundays.
In addition to these exciting connections, Southwest Airlines is embracing a more dynamic business model, moving toward a 24-hour operation. The airline plans to launch red-eye flights in February 2025, emphasizing cross-country routes and services between mainland U.S. locations and Hawaii. As a part of the airline’s effort to enhance passenger experience, it will also begin implementing innovative seat designs on newly acquired Boeing 737 aircraft, featuring adjustable headrests and improved under-seat storage.
