United Airlines Launches Direct Flight to Dominica from NYC

Introduction to the New Route

Traveling to the Caribbean has just become more accessible with the announcement of a new United Airlines flight connecting New York City to the stunning island of Dominica. Starting February 15, 2025, this direct flight will depart from Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) every Saturday, marking United Airlines as the only carrier offering this route from the Northeast.

A Unique Caribbean Destination

Dominica, often referred to as the ‘nature island,’ is celebrated for its breathtaking landscapes, including lush rainforests, picturesque volcanoes, and captivating waterfalls. This new flight not only opens a gateway for tourists from New York but also enhances the island’s position within the global travel market. According to Matt Stevens, United’s Vice President of International Network, this partnership with the Discover Dominica Authority underscores United’s commitment to enriching its route network with unique destinations.

Enhancements to Dominica’s Infrastructure

The introduction of the direct flight coincides with significant upgrades to Dominica’s Douglas-Charles Airport (DOM), which now features an extended runway and a refreshed terminal to accommodate larger aircraft. Furthermore, the island is set to expand its hospitality offerings, with nearly 500 new hotel rooms slated for completion in 2025. This growth in infrastructure will surely enhance the visitor experience and help alleviate accessibility challenges that have affected the destination in the past.
