An Immersive Holiday Experience
This holiday season, the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG) unveils a new and mesmerizing light trail inspired by Tim Burton’s ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas.’ From September 27 to November 30, visitors can embark on an immersive journey that brings to life some of the most iconic characters and scenes from the beloved 1993 animated film.
What to Expect
The light trail boasts 19 displays across 8,300 square feet, featuring video projections, LED lighting, and 3-D printed sculptures. Guests can enjoy beloved characters such as Jack Skellington, Sally, and Zero, alongside memorable songs and scenes from the film. The 45-minute to one-hour stroll promises a captivating visual and auditory experience, perfect for visitors of all ages.
A Collaborative Spectacle
The stunning light trail is produced in partnership with Buena Vista Theatrical and co-produced by AdventureLive, an experiential entertainment company known for its work on ‘Hamilton’ on Broadway. Madrid-based Letsgo, responsible for creative projects like Tim Burton’s Labyrinth and the Salvador Dali-themed Art in Nature, adds an extra layer of expertise and creativity to the production.
Logistics and Tickets
The light trail will be open from dusk to 10 p.m. on Thursdays through Sundays during its nine-week engagement. Note that while the experience is housed within the NYBG, it is a separate attraction that requires its own ticket. Timed entry tickets start at $49 for individuals aged 13 and older, and $39 for children aged two to 12. Flexible entry tickets are available at prices ranging from $55 to $59 depending on the date and time. Special pricing, such as the Jack 4-Pack, allows groups of four or more to purchase tickets starting at $39 each.
A Thrilling New Tradition
Jeffrey Seller, founder of AdventureLive, expressed his excitement, stating, ‘I want to make an experience that surprises people, that is both visually stunning and sonically cool.’ This light trail promises to be a delightful new way to celebrate the holidays, merging the enchanting world of Tim Burton with the natural beauty of the New York Botanical Garden.
