Introduction of New Direct Route
Avianca Airlines is set to launch a new direct service between Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport and Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport. This new daily flight will commence on October 27, 2024, and will be operated on an Airbus A320. The flight schedule includes a departure from Chicago at 2:35 pm CST and arrival in Bogotá at 8:25 pm COT, which is the same timezone as CST.
Expanding Connectivity
According to Avianca’s sales director, Rolando Damas, this new route will significantly enhance connectivity between the United States and Colombia. “This new route will allow more travelers to connect to the United States through our network and facilitate the arrival of new visitors to Colombia and the rest of our region,” Damas said. With the addition of the Chicago route, Avianca will now serve 13 different cities in the United States, including Boston, Dallas, Las Vegas, and New York.
Recognition and Alliance
Avianca has been recognized as the “most on-time global airline in 2023” by air tracking service Cirium. As a member of the Star Alliance, the same alliance as Chicago-based United Airlines, frequent flyers can benefit from earning miles and utilizing perks within the same airline network.
Exploring Bogotá and Beyond
Bogotá, the capital city of Colombia, is a cultural hub featuring a variety of popular museums such as the Santa Clara Museum, MAMU (Miguel Urrutia Museum of Art), and the Gold Museum, which houses over 400 unique gold pieces from Colombia’s history. From Bogotá, travelers can connect to other destinations like the Magdalena region on the Caribbean coast, Medellín, or even the Amazon rainforest, offering a plethora of adventures for visitors.
