Great Basin National Park, located in White Pine County, Nevada, will be managing five major construction projects throughout the summer months, the National Park Service (NPS) recently announced.

Updated timing for the projects can be found on the park’s ‘Alerts In Effect / Current Projects’ page. Specifically, the park’s amphitheater, Visitor Center parking, and picnic area will be closed towards the end of summer, and the evening astronomy programs will also be relocated.

At the conclusion of the five construction projects, visitors will enjoy expanded campgrounds, new trailheads, road improvements, and facilities.

The park is also home to Lehman Caves, which are the longest stretch of cave systems in Nevada. Visitors can tour the caves by booking tickets on Recreation.gov, and rates start at $15 for Adults. The caves have a average temperature of 50° F which can provide a refreshing reprieve from the summer heat. Cave visits are also affected by the summer construction upgrades, so travelers will need to plan ahead and book tickets early to secure a cave visit.

Over 143,200 people visited Great Basin National Park in 2023.
