Support for California Wildfires

If you’re looking for ways to assist those impacted by the devastating wildfires in Southern California, consider donating your unused airline miles. In a remarkable initiative, United Airlines has made headlines by promising to match donations from MileagePlus members. They aim to offer help to wildfire relief efforts after donating $100,000 to two local non-profits: the LA Regional Food Bank and California Fire Foundation.

How to Donate Your Miles

United Airlines is matching donations of miles up to five million miles and $150,000. If you’re part of their rewards program, you can easily donate your miles by accessing their dedicated donation page. To participate, donations must be a minimum of 1,000 miles and made by January 31 at 11:59 p.m.

Other Airlines Join the Cause

Other airlines, including American Airlines and Alaska Airlines, are also stepping up to offer assistance. American Airlines is incentivizing donations by providing AAdvantage miles for cash contributions to the American Red Cross. Similarly, Alaska Airlines has announced a program where they will match mileage donations sent to the American Red Cross’ disaster relief pool. This is an opportunity for travelers to utilize miles for a greater good, directly aiding those who are suffering from the wildfires.

The collective efforts from various airlines illustrate the powerful impact that individual contributions can make in challenging times. By donating miles or making cash donations, you are not only assisting wildfire relief efforts but also standing in solidarity with affected communities.
