Joshua Tree National Park is holding a literal star-studded event in the fall, and tickets are on sale now.

The annual Night Sky Festival will take place on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5 at the Sky’s The Limit Observatory located on Utah Trail 29 in Palms CA — just .1 miles from Joshua Tree’s North Entrance Station.

The ticket price varies by event, but previous years have started at $50 for the evening star watch.

Last year’s Night Sky Festival sold out with hundreds of attendees who enjoyed a special musical performance under the stars, photography lessons, star viewing and kids activity stations.

For outdoor enthusiasts who aren’t able to join for the annual event, the center also hosts a monthly night sky program, on the Saturday closest to a new moon. Future dates include September 28, November 2, and December 28, the July 6 event is already sold out.

Joshua Tree National Park has plenty of activities year round including hiking, camping, rock climbing, stargazing.

Visitors are reminded that for night-time activities only red lights are permitted, and to bring plenty of food and water. The park also reminds visitors that while it can get extremely hot during the day, overnight temperatures have the tendency to drop so it is important to layer up with clothing to stay warm.
